Sony releases Carl Zeiss 24/2 ZA SSM at PMA 2010
22. Februar 2010, 13:36:14 Uhr:
Sony has officially announced another lens at PMA 2010, the Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 24/2 ZA SSM.
This lens was previewed already at PMA 2007, called a “Large Aperture Wide Angle” lens. The prototype displayed then was significantly larger in diameter. It was probably intended to represent a 24/1.4. Sony has obviously changed their mind in the meantime, going for a 24/2. Such a more conservative design offers the opportunity for smaller size, lower weight and lower price, while still resulting in a reasonably fast lens and high performance.

Alpha system users will be happy to learn that this lens is a Carl Zeiss design, full frame, and equipped with a SSM focus motor. Further lens data has not been communicated.
Sony has not revealed a release date, yet, but the protoype shown at PMA looks like it is ready to hit the market soon.
