This note is not really realted to stuff on this page, but this is where I found the email link, LOL.
I love the charts. I own 2 Minolta MF bodies and 5 film Maxxums. This is a great source of info when planning another purchase. Thanks for including the aftermarket lenses and flashes as well. I like the inclusion of the HTsi and HTsi Plus models. NO, they are not the same model as other sites say. I have the HTsi. and XTsi. Your pictures should be updated, as the HTsi has no silver on it. Qtsi & STsi are all silver, the STsi adding a dial to change settings. HTsi in Black only adds the leatherette panels to the front. The HTsi Plus and the XTsi are in silver with leatherette panels on front. All of these except the XTsi sport a plastic lens mount. XTsi gets metal mount.
I noticed a Maxxum 7 Limited on the list, but the details seem identical to the 7. How is it different?
BTW, around here we don't put an "o" in the word 'curtain'. Where are you from? LOL
Again, I really like the site. I hope you keep it online.
Since I also own Canon EOS film bodies, do you know if anyone has built a similar site for Canon stuff?

I've moved this, as I think it fits better here.

Each row in the camera table represents up to three cameras. There may be cosmetic differences between regional models.

The differences between the 7 and 7 Limited are listed in the comments column. You can also use the comparison function on the page to find differences automatically.

I don't know if something similar exists for Canon EOS.

i have some addition to your table (column Comments):
You already list "plastic lens mount" for Dynax 300si, Dynax 404si, Dynax 500si.

Further models do have a plastic lens mount: Dynax 303si, Maxxum HTsi, Dynax 505si, Dynax 4, Dynax 40.

For the Dynax 3L i have not found any valid information, but i am sure it has a plastic lens mount also.

Any other model listed here has a metal lens mount.

Great ref web page... the problem is that Sony will not sell a body of a camera. I have been attempting to purchase an A230 or A330 to use with system of Minolta AF lenes. I have had no luck with retailers and Sony Style and Parts/Acc department both have not answers.

The question then is, why have interchangable parts when its impossible to complete the item without duplicating lenes and increasing the intial cost of the item?

This depends on the market. For example, in Germany and Britain Sony is selling the A230 and A330 also body only. In the U.S. Sony is selling only camera kits of the A230 and A330 with at least one lens (the 18-55).

You did a wonderfull job creating this. I'm collecting the Minolta Dynax camera's as well as the lenses. So I can allways get inspiration about the technical innovations in the camera's.
Is it maybe possible to make a connection from the cameratype and a pdf of the manual. Its very difficult to find one, and often the printing isn"t possible.

Remember that Minolta still has the Copyright for their manuals. After they have closed their download page for these manuals, there seems to be no more (legal) way to download the camera manuals. Obviously, I can't link to illegal download pages.

so, quick question, the 5000 is not listed under the film bodies from minoltas first line of af cameras. does that mean these first af cameras did not use the a-mount. now MOST digital cameras have sensors that are smaller than 35mm film fram and the dt lenses are designed to overcome the sensors size. these dt lenses, will they have an inverse crop effect when used on 35mm? this page is amazing and i look forward to starting my 35mm journey with my "new" maxxums.

The 5000 is listed above. Look again. There is no inverse crop effect. You will get strong vignetting when using DT lenses on 35mm cameras.

Hello Michael, I use a a700 and have only one Sony flash (HLV 3600). I also have a plethora of other Vivitar 283, 285, 285 HV and 4600's which I gang. Can I use the pc synch cords with the cameras pc plug without damaging the camera? Thanks again. Don

According to the manual the PC sync connector can be used at up to 400V and with any polarity, so it should be safe.

I have a number of the older Minolta lenses, which will supposedly work with AF on the camera, but those older lenses focus only using MF and not on AF. The Sony lenses that I have do work. Hello Michael, Before I list specific lenses, I noticed that unlike the a700 or a550, on all of the lenses I mention the focus wheel turns freely at all times regardless of AF/MF setting. The second thing I noticed is that almost all the lenses that I have tried are the original 1985 lenses. I bought them specifically because of the "old" metal build quality.

So far, 28/2.8 (1985), 50/1.7 (1985), 50/2.8 Macro (1985), 28-85/3.5-4.5 (1985), 28-135/ 4.0-4.5 (1985), 70-210/4.5-5.6 (1993).

It seems like the AF is "hunting" yet the focus doesn't change.

I have upgraded the firmware to 107. It seems like I am not seeing something.

This sounds like the AF drive of the camera is broken. If you switch between AF and MF you should hear the AF clutch enganging and disenganging, and in AF mode you should not be able to manually focus a non-SSM/non-SAM lens. In general, these lenses do work in the A77. You should contact the seller of the camera.

The expansion cards of the xi series do not store images! They add functions to the camera. See here for an overview.

A question if i may. I've recently purchased a Sigma 70-300 that only works in manual focus mode, (i knew this when buying). However, with the Dynax 5 it is manual only, but with the 404si the lens functions in both automatic and manual focus. Can you think of any reason why this woulld be?

See the F.A.Q. list. Sigma is known for lenses that work on one generation of cameras and no longer work on the next generation.

This is a camera with a fixed lens. You can not put a different lens on it.

I think that was in the tech data of the Sony announcement. However, I can not find it anymore. I guess this was a mistake that they corrected later.

The upgrade seems to be available (at least it was in February). See this Dyxum thread (read completely to make sure you don't miss anything). Where to get a 9? Try eBay or any other second-hand site. I have not checked.

The Wireless Flash Controller is incompatible with DSLRs. There are no tricks to work around this.

Michael Hohner answers:
You may be lucky that the 7D just triggers the remote flash. But since this system would not be able to do pre-flash metering, exposure will be a hit and miss in auto mode. Again, there are no tricks, no workarounds, no upgrades. The Wireless Flash Controller was discontinued by Minolta many years before they stopped their entire photo business, and that again was many years ago.

What is the size of the negative when the Maxxum STsi is set to panorama mode? Is it wider than the 36mm of a standard 135 frame (like maybe 72mm)? And if it is truly "panoramic", would the typical lens such as a 35-70 cover the wider frame size?

The frame is cropped from the top and bottom in panorama mode (don't know by how much). As you correctly note, anything else would not be possible with the lenses for these cameras.

Hello, years and years later I'm back to your site :)
I have a dynax 4 that kept rewinding the film before the end of the roll, quite unpredictable. It's been doing this from time to time for the last 10 years or so :) But now it refuses to even load the film. And last time when I rewind the film manually it rewind it completely while the custom setting is set to leave the film tip out. Any ideea what I could check? Or any ideea of online Minolta servicing manuals source ? I would attempt to fix it. If not, we'll, maybe the Autocord will get more use.

The sprocket hole counter may be dirty. It's a hole somewhere along the area where the perforation of the film is. Try blowing it out with compressed air. If that doesn't help the film tension sensor may be broken. I don't know how to repair this.

It could be indeed the camera. When electronic components age the power consumption can increase. I recommend you remove the battery from the camera when you don't use it.

Hi. In the table above you list the Nex 7 as having HSS and WL HSS capability (unlike the Nex 6), but in the WL compendium there is no option to select 'camera flash' on either. I thought all the Nex range needed an additional flash for HSS or WL control. Am I wrong, or is the table misleading?

That's not a contradiction. These cameras support wireless flash, but only when using a dedicated flash as the controller. The built-in flash can not act as a controller. Other NEX models (e.g. the NEX-5) can use a dedicated flash, but even then do not support wireless flash.

Hi, the α7R can be marked as non-current, it went out-of-production in April 2018, due to one part not being produced anymore. The α7 and α7S and all second Generation α7 series cameras continue to be produced.

Also I would sort the α6500 before the new α6400, because it will still stay the higher-class model (also at a higher Price Point).
And as a final note, the 29:57 minutes Video file Limit is finally gone in the α6400.

The cameras are listed in reverse release order within the class. I've seen the video limit mentioned by people, but I've never seen this in a spec sheet from Sony.

The "system camcorder" section looks a little bit outdated:
NEX-VG30 and NEX-VG900 went out of production (www.sony.jp/handycam/lineup/past.html section 2012), even if VG30 is still sold by sony japan store.
NEX-FS100, NEX-FS700(R), NEX-EA50 went out of production (pro.sony/en_GB/products/handheld-camcorders?discontinued=true).
The PXW-FS5M2 is missing (pro.sony/en_GB/products/handheld-camcorders/pxw-fs5m2), looks like a minor upgrade to the PXW-FS5.
Maybe add the Venice (MPC-3610)? It is sold with an already mounted PL mount adaptor, but it is a native E mount cam ;) (pro.sony/en_GB/product-resources/manuals/venice-operation-manual v4:pg.21)

Einfach immer wieder superpraktisch die Seite, ich verwende die oft zum Nachschauen und Vergleichen, großes Lob. Was ich grad aber vermisse, ist eine Spalte, ob die Kamera eine Wasserwaage hat (oder ich bin blind ;) ). Eine Alpha 6000/6100 z.B: hat keine, eine 6400 hat eine. Das wäre noch praktisch, einzubauen, da die Frage doch immer wieder kommt ;)

Thanks for your continued work on maintaining this lists! Sony Japan lists the ILCE-5100 and ILCE-6500 as discontinued. A few days ago this wasn't so. Further I believe that the ILCE-3000/3500 are longer ago discontinued, but they will never show up on the Japan past lineup page, because they where never released in Japan. You can't buy them new since some time at least in DACH area.
